MAROSBARAN - XIII CARD - The Excerpt 2015 (SCI-FI SAFARI)
Maros Baran is a Slovak creator with a contemporary voice, sharp expression and dark imagery ready to hunt and amaze us. His work seems to run as a whole, an everlasting talk about what he truly imagines for his vision of a woman, something between a powerful witch, an elegant mediaeval princess and a deconstructed fairytale. Shattered figures, long coats, sheer dresses and a deck of cards, all come together in order to paint the impression of a wild tribe of post goth dancers. Baran's last artistic endeavor told the story of a red dragon, a female lover of the beasts that played with the rules and limits of art and fashion and at the end managed to intrigue us with her power and iconoclastic aura. Following the narration of this curious, yet fascinating, story this collection comes as a natural conclusion where shapes, ideas, motives and inspirations evolve and conclude the bloody ending of our heroine. At the end Maros Baran exposes an intricate and explosive character, a deep understanding of the contemporary and a repurposed interpretation of how to exploit the past and challenge the future.
